MINGO JUNCTION, Ohio -- A potential strike is averted as the Buckeye Local School District and the Ohio Association of Public School Employees passed a tentative agreement late Wednesday afternoon.
On Tuesday both sides met, along with a federal mediator. From there a tentative agreement went to members of the union for a vote. This agreement gives OAPSE members a 35-cents-per-hour raise for the next two years, and requires them to accept all deductibles in insurance. The ratification means school will begin next week, as scheduled. And that strike notice is withdrawn.
