WHEELING, W.Va. – A plan for Wheeling's future was presented to the public Monday. It's the first time the city has had a Comprehensive Plan since 1997.
The plan entails a number of serious topics, including population, the economy, industry and housing. Dozens were in attendance to hear more about the friendly city's future.
"This history of Wheeling is a big city that got smaller and smaller and what we need to do is to stop that,” resident Chuck Wood said. “And I believe the stability of the city is on the value of its history.”
"I am interested in the growth of Wheeling,” resident Mary Marockie said. “I have been involved in all kinds of activities here, and I want to see it grow."
There is another meeting to being held at 6 o’clock this evening at West Virginia Northern Community College.
The final draft should be in place for city council to view by Sept. 15.
