DILLONVALE, Ohio – A 20-year-old Martins Ferry woman was cited after driving her truck into the side of a house, leaving a Dillonvale man with serious damage to his home.
Officials say Shaianne Hoffer had been drinking and failed to maneuver a curve in a Dodge pickup truck, slamming her car into a house and leaving thousands of dollars worth of damage to the foundation at around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of Liberty Street.
When crews arrived, they found Hoffer had three other passengers in the truck. Hoffer suffered the most serious injury with a broken arm. She was also cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
A neighbor said an elderly man owns the home and he was shaken up after the incident.
Sgt. Robert Bodo with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said while the damage to the outside of the home does not appear to be too significant, the inside tells a different story.
“From the inside of the house, walls were separate already from the ceiling to the floor,” Bodo said. “The foundation blocks were damaged and pushed in toward the basement, so a significant amount of damage to the house.”
In addition to that OVI charge, Hoffer was also cited with failure to control and underage alcohol consumption. One of the other three passengers also cited for underage drinking.
