9.5 pounds of marijuana attempted to be mail to Ohio

Updated: Wednesday, March 26 2014, 04:24 AM EDT

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio -- Officials found a substantial amount of marijuana after U.S. Postal inspectors intercepted a package containing the suspected drug heading to an Uhrichsville address Monday afternoon.

Officials say the package had approximately 9.5 pounds of marijuana inside, with a shipping label showing it came from Tacoma Washington. Although marijuana is legal in some states, it is still illegal to possess and traffic in the State of Ohio and ship through the U.S. Mail.

Officials in Tuscarawas County worked with the Post Office to coordinate a controlled delivery of the drugs to the mailing address, where then executed a search warrant on the home.
After the package was delivered law enforcement entered the home to find two males. Both men denied any knowledge of the package contents. Both men were questioned and released pending the outcome of this case with a report to be sent to the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor for potential charges after laboratory analysis of the phones and suspected marijuana is concluded.
