WETZEL COUNTY, W.Va. – Residents in the Brooklyn section of New Martinsville met with local and county officials Thursday to continue to voice concerns over the nearly year-long closing of the Brooklyn Bridge and their sometimes 30-minute wait at a railroad crossing before they can get into town or back home.

It’s a story NEWS9 brought you last week, with residents saying then, and again Thursday, it’s become too much to bear.

Last year, the state inspected the bridge and reported a problem with the piers, making the structure unsafe for travel.

Officials have said the bridge can be used for emergencies, but it’s closed for normal traffic.
