1 dead, 1 in critical condition after DUI crash in Ohio Co.

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. —

One woman has died and other is in critical condition after a drunken driver crashed into their car in Ohio County Sunday morning.

Sheriff Pat Butler said the crash happened about 3:30 a.m. on McCutcheon Road past Robinson Drive near the Highlands.
The driver was driving drunk and rear-ended another car then struck a guardrail, Butler said. Two women were critically injured, and one died in the hospital, he said.

Deputies arrested John Lance Hatfield, 28, for driving under the influence and causing injury.

This afternoon, a DUI causing death charge was also filed. He is in the Northern Regional Jail where bond is set at a total of $350,000.
