BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A man is dead and two others injured after an early-morning Saturday crash in Belmont County, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

State Route 7 near Bellaire was shut down for hours while emergency crews worked at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 12:49 a.m., troopers said.

One car traveled southbound on Route 7 at milepost 18 in Bellaire when it crossed the median into the northbound traffic, troopers said. The car struck a northbound car head on, causing the southbound car to overturn, troopers said. The driver was thrown from the car, authorities said.

Ohio Department of Transportation crews shut down Route 7 by 26th street to 48th street for crash reconstruction, according to troopers. Lanes didn't reopen to traffic until around 4 a.m.

At least one car involved in the crash was towed to Naylor Brothers towing service in Martins Ferry. Troopers said the driver killed was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Charles Anastasia, 25, of Bellaire died from his injuries, troopers said. Inside the car Anastasia struck was 34-year-old tiffany Aubrey, of Bridgeport and her passenger, 37-year-old Timmy Abate of Benwood, troopers said.

Troopers said they spoke to Abate and Aubrey on Saturday morning at Wheeling Hospital, and they do not have any life-threatening injuries.
