14-year-old girl charged after shots fired at stolen car in Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

A 14-year-old girl has been charged in connection with a shots-fired incident in the LaBelle area of Steubenville.


Police said someone shot at a stolen car near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Carnegie Street on Tuesday night. No injuries were reported.

The car that was shot at was rented out of Wheeling and had not been returned. It was found abandoned several blocks away from the shooting in an alley.

Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said the driver of the stolen car was a 14-year-old girl. She is charged with driving without an operator's license and receiving stolen property.

Three other teens, ages 14 to 16, were also in the stolen car.

The shooter in the incident was not identified as of Wednesday afternoon.
