2 killed in separate crashes in Columbiana Co.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio --

Two people were killed in separate crashes in Columbiana County on Tuesday.

Police said Melissa Gorby, 33, of East Palestine, died after her car struck another vehicle head-on just before 2 p.m. on state Route 165 in Unity Township.

The driver of the second car involved in that crash -- 22-year-old Ashley Clark, of Rogers -- was taken to a Youngstown hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In a separate crash, 35-year-old David Mayfield, of East Liverpool, was killed.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said the three-car crash happened just before 11 a.m. on state Route 7 in Elkrun Township.

The other two drivers involved in that crash were not injured.
