2 More Amish Men Accused Of Cutting Hair, Beards Against Victims' Will

Two more Amish men turned themselves in to police in connection with hair- and beard-cutting incidents.

The Holmes County sheriff said Daniel Mullet, 37, and Eli Miller, 32, turned themselves in Wednesday morning. Both men are charged with burglary and kidnapping.

The two men, in addition to three other Amish men facing the same accusations, were bonded out at $50,000 each. The sheriff said Sam Mullet, their community leader, posted the bond for the men, officials said.

The five men are accused of cutting the hair and beards of another Amish family in Holmes County against their will, including an Amish bishop and a 13-year-old girl.

On Tuesday, Johnny and Lester Mullet along with Levi Miller faced a Jefferson County judge for their extradition to Holmes County.

"They were stating that they talked to their dad (Sam Mullet) last night and he was supposed to be here today, possibly to post bond, but to tell them what to do," Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Aballa said.

The suspects are all members of the Amish community in Bergholtz. There were several other similar cases reported recently, including one in Trumbull County where officials said Sam Mullet's sister was attacked. There is also a case in Jefferson County, and one in Carroll County that is headed to a grand jury.

A preliminary hearing for the suspects is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Oct. 19 in Holmes County. Stay with NEWS9, WTOV9.com and WTOV9 Mobile for continuing coverage.
