WHEELING, W.Va. -- Ohio County Sheriff's deputies arrested three people at the Walmart at the Highlands on Black Friday.

"We got notified by loss prevention that there was a gentleman in the store who had attempted a theft on Tuesday," said Lt. Nelson Croft. "He was back again while we were working."

Croft said investigators identified the man as Melvin Crow. They said Crow put his chosen items in a cart on Tuesday and then left the store. Deputies accused Crow of trying to leave the store with a cart full of merchandise worth more than $800 on Black Friday.

"There were actually four uniformed officers in the store, four marked sheriff's cars out front, and the gentleman basically walked past them and went in to commit his crime," said Croft. "It was about 2 a.m. when they noticed him, and he shopped until approximately 4 a.m. before he decided to try and leave with his buggy full of merchandise."

Crow was charged with entering without breaking.

While Crow was in the store, loss prevention investigators told deputies which truck he had arrived in.

Croft said deputies "approached the people in the truck, and they admitted they were waiting on the suspect. When the driver got out, a bottle of pills fell out of his lap. The passenger had a bag of pills in her pocket."

The driver was identified as Michael Miedel, and deputies say the passenger was Tia Well, as known as Tia Williams. Miedel and Well were charged with possession with intent to deliever. Hide Section - Optional
