HANOVERTON, Ohio --
A group of companies is planning $900 million operation for processing natural gas and natural gas liquids in eastern Ohio.
Media outlets report Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp. said Tuesday the plan for facilities in Columbiana and Harrison counties will be in place within five years.
The Columbiana County site will process natural resources extracted by various companies from the Utica Shale. The partner site will store natural-gas liquids, such as propane.
Chesapeake, M3 Midstream LLC and EV Energy Partners L.P. are developing the project. The Akron Beacon Journal reports the trio and affiliates own rights to drill more than 2 million acres in Ohio.
Jerry James, president of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, tells The Columbus Dispatch the plant will be the largest of its type in the state.
