Police say 2:30 Sunday morning 24 year old Joseph Tolliver of Bellaire went into an apartment on the 18 hundred block of North 9th Street in Martins Ferry. Police say once inside he started to beat the women staying in the apartment. According to police both women were pregnant. Police say hours later, around 8:30 Sunday morning one of the victims pretended to be asleep and when she got her chance escaped. The woman went to a neighbor's home and called police. The victim's mother says they are waiting to hear back from a doctor about the baby's health. The other victim says she suffered minor injuries and while she is obviously shaken up over what happened is okay.
