Some local law enforcement officers are helping to make Christmas wishes come true.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 97, which includes members from Jefferson, Harrison and Carroll counties, took part in the 25th annual Shop With A Cop event.
During the event, officers help children and parents mark off items from their Christmas lists. Each child got $100 thanks to money raised with the help of businesses and residents.
Wintersville Police Chief Ed Laman said, "It's the look on the kid's face basically, because a lot of these kids are underprivileged. They don't have a lot and whenever they can get stuff that they really want, that's the enjoyment for us."
Crystal Saman, who participated in the event, said, "It helps out more than anybody can actually realize. With the economy, prices rising and wages staying the same, it's going to make their Christmas much better."
Organizers said 100 children participated and 55 families benefited from the event.
