WOODSFIELD, Ohio —
Police have confirmed anther meth lab bust in the Ohio Valley, making it the third bust in the last few weeks.
The meth lab was discovered in 200 block of Oaklawn in Woodsfield, Monroe County, around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. According to officials, police received a tip earlier in the day about a possible meth lab there.
When police arrived, officers found two men just starting to prepare to cook the chemicals.
"(They) were actively in the process of breaking down the chemicals and had the lab actually assembled on the floor and were actually getting ready to start the cook," said Woodsfield Police Chief Chuck Hamilton.
James Hoskins and James Kisner, both 29 years old, were arrested and transported to the Noble County Jail. The chief said the suspects will likely be charged with two felonies each: one count of manufacturing a controlled substance and another count of possession of chemicals. Neither are residents of Monroe County.
Investigators said since the lab wasn't in full swing yet, no hazmat team was called in.
Another meth lab was busted in Woodsfield about two weeks ago. Shortly before that, police found a meth lab in Barnesville, Belmont County.
Hamilton said the two meth labs in Woodsfield were of the same variety, commonly called "one pot" or the "shake and bake" method. He said, basically, this new kind of manufacturing meth is easier.
"It requires a lot less material and a lot less chemical than other forms of cooking," Hamilton said.
He said it's also a lot more dangerous -- one wrong move and the concoction can explode.
"Hopefully we don't have any more for awhile, but we'll see what happens," Hamilton said.
