There has been speculation that Casteel, a native of Paden City in Wetzel County, would join former WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez at Arizona after the season ended. However, the U of A had declined to comment, saying only that an announcement about the coaching staff would be made Wednesday.

The biography accompanying Casteel's picture on the U of A website says "veteran defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel was appointed to take over Arizona's defense on Jan. 11."

Jan. 11 is Wednesday's date.

Casteel, a graduate of Paden City High School, has been on the coaching staff at West Virginia University since 2001. He has been the program's defensive coordinator since 2003.

Update:

The link to Casteel's biography has been removed from the University of Arizona's website as of 9:36 p.m. Tuesday.
