Bedbugs Turn Up At Steubenville Apartment Complex Again

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

Bedbugs are creeping back up in a Steubenville apartment complex.

Officials at Gaylord Towers said they spotted the insects inside an apartment that they had previously treated.

Thursday, an exterminator came back to treat the apartment and rid it of bedbugs again.

Residents at the complex said they haven't heard much talk about the bugs, but they're keeping a watchful eye.

"It's kind of scary because I have a 9-year-old son that comes over and I don't want him to spread that to his mom's house," said Carl Ferguson.

Vera Adams, who also lives in the apartment complex, said, "As long as they're away from me, I don't care. No, I do care, but what are you going to do? I've got to have some place to live."

Steubenville Health Department officials said they don't consider the bedbugs as an infestation at this point. But, they're warning residents not to buy used furniture, to wash their clothing in hot water and cover their mattresses.
