Belmont Co. first responders handle fire, crash at same time

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

First responders in Belmont County handled a house fire and a car stuck in a creek at the same time overnight Saturday.

Firefighters from multiple departments were called to a house on West 42nd Street in Shadyside at 12:59 a.m., dispatchers said. No one was home at the time of the blaze, authorities said.

Just minutes later at 1:03 a.m., the Spirit of 76 Emergency Medical Service was called west of Shadyside to Wegee Road where a car had crashed into a creek, dispatchers said. At least one person was injured and transported to a local hospital.

According to authorities, it's unclear how severe the injured person's injuries are.
