BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —
A Belmont County man charged with sex-related crimes appeared in court Thursday morning.
James Chaplin, 51, had an initial appearance before Judge John Vavra of Eastern Division Court. Chaplin's bond was set at one million dollars.
Court officials said Chaplin plans to represent himself in the case.
Chaplin is charged with two counts of rape, one count of gross sexual imposition and two counts of corrupting another with drugs.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Chaplin was being held in the Belmont County Jail after he was arrested and transported from another county.
