BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A Belmont County man who was found guilty of numerous child pornography charges was sentenced Friday morning.

Clifford Brown Jr., 43, of Holloway, was sentenced to three years in prison for downloading and sharing child pornography.

During a non-jury trial in October, Brown was found guilty on four charges of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. The incidents stemmed to December 2011.

"Although the victims are unknown, this is not a victimless offense," Judge John Solovan II said to Brown in court. "I inferred from the evidence that you recklessly allowed the videos in your shared folder where they could be accessed by others."

Brown must registers as a Tier II sex offender and the computer he used in the crimes was forfeited to the Sexual Predator Internet Initiative Task Force.

He told family members, "I just want to apologize for all of this happening and for anybody that I've hurt, especially my kids, who I love more than anything in this world. And I hope that after I get all this behind me that I can have a relationship with them again."

Solovan noted Brown's apparent lack of remorse.

"Prison is the first step to open your eyes to (the) seriousness of it and to allow the public to know how serious this is," the judge said.

Solovan also told Brown that he would consider judicial release next year, something a prisoner is typically only eligible for on the day his or her sentence is up.
