Blood Donors Remind Others Of Need To Give

The Red Cross hoped to draw in at least 150 people at Tuesday's Media Blood Donor day at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville.

NEWS9 talked with several donors who made their way to the event. Sandy Santicola said she feels like she's giving back to the people who were there for her husband. She said an illness left him needing more transfusions than she can count.

"Had they not been there I don't know what would have happened to him," said Santicola.

Joe Ball stopped by the event to donate as well, his motiviation was his niece.

"I've got a niece that has cancer and I try to make an effort to donate every year," said Ball.

Meantime, others, like James Schiffner, just make it a yearly routine. "Somebody needs it and I have plenty of it," said Schiffner.

The event runs until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
