Bond set at $100,000 for man accused of intimidating witness in Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —


A man is facing charges in Steubenville for allegedly intimidating a witness and obstructing justice.Officials said the charges were related to two separate investigations. 
    
Police arrested 33-year-old Fred McShan around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The intimidation charge stems from an incident on Wednesday. Steubenville Prosecutor John Mascio said McShan intimidated a witness to an alleged burglary involving his brother.

The obstruction charge deals with the double homicide investigation in Steubenville. McShan is accused of trying to get people to destory evidence or withhold information about the crime. Officials said the 16-year-old shooting suspect is also a relative of McShan.

Fred McShan’s bond is set at $100,000. He is scheduled to appear in magistrate court at 9 a.m. Monday.
