Boy Falls From Rope Swing, Hits Rocks

HANCOCK COUNTY - —

A 15-year-old boy is recovering from injuries sustained on a rope swing along the Ohio River.

Marilyn Boyd said her son, Jimmy, had two surgeries at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh as a result of the accident.

Thursday, Jimmy Boyd was swinging on a rope attached to a tree along the riverbank on Grant Street in Newell. Boyd said her son tried to jump off the swing into the water, but landed in the rocks below.

Newell fire crews rushed him to the hospital where he was treated for three severed tendons in his ankle.

Boyd said doctors expect a full recovery.
