MARTINS FERRY, Ohio —

Martins Ferry police are investigating the cause of a second crash Saturday on Route 7 near Hanover Street, just hours after a crash involving four cars in the same area.

Several people were injured in a two-car crash about 12:50 p.m., dispatchers said.  Earlier in the morning, EMS crews treated other people injured in a four-car crash at the same location.

During the first crash, Route 7 was shut down for an hour while emergency crews worked to clear the area, dispatchers said.

Ambulances were at both crashes, and the details of the crashes have yet to be released. It's unclear how many people were hurt or the severity of their injuries.
