WEIRTON, W.Va. —

Crews from West Virginia, Steubenville and Pennsylvania are battling a house fire in Weirton that's forced the closure of part of a busy roadway.

Pennsylvania Avenue is closed near the intersection of Main Street because firefighters had to pull a hose across the road.

A NEWS9 crew at the scene said flames are shooting from the home and black smoke is pouring into the air.

The house is located off Pennsylvania Avenue on a hillside. Neighbors said someone lives in the house, but the resident was not home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries.

At least three fire departments responded and remained at the scene as of 2:30 p.m. Weirton Fire Department officials called the fire departments in Steubenville and Hanover Township, Pa., to assist.

Officials are turning vehicles back and traffic is heavy in the area. Vehicles are trying to turn around, but drivers are having a difficult time due to the location.
