Bridgeport schools evacuated, dismissed after threat

By NEWS9

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

Bridgeport Schools Superintendent Ted Downing said a bomb threat was called in by phone Thursday at around 9:30 a.m.

Downing said the threat was specific to Bridgeport High School, but the entire district was evacuated for precautionary reasons.

The district was dismissed at noon.

Downing said Belmont County sheriff deputies searched the area. Just after 1 p.m., he said authorities checked out the school and everything is fine. School will resume on Friday as usual.

He said this is the first bomb threat made during his time as superintendent at the district and that administrators plan to prosecute to the fullest extent.
