Brooke County Crews Clean Up Fuel Again

WELLSBURG, W.Va. —

Brooke County emergency crews were called out to clean up diesel fuel again this weekend after a spill in Wellsburg.

Officials said a motorist spotted a truck leaking fuel going south on Route 2 Saturday at about 2:30 p.m.

Police officers were finally able to pull over the driver along Route 2 around the Brooke-Ohio County line. Officials said they realized that the driver had forgotten to put the cap back on his gas tank after filling up.

Crews had Route 2 cleaned up in about an hour.

Brooke County crews were also called out to clean up a diesel fuel spill along Route 22 in Weirton Friday night.
