WHEELING, W.VA.-- The Wheeling Human Rights Commission is learning they have a small cash carryover from last year's budget.

The commission is reporting an extra $5,341.05.

This comes after reports of the budget being trimmed for the upcoming fiscal year and subsequent staff cuts.

After discovering the carryover, the commission plans to approach the city about keeping that cash to make up for some of the cuts to their 2012-2013 budget.

They also intend to request that the director of the commission be given a raise equal to that recently given to other city employees.

The commission’s new chairperson, Rabbi Beth Jacowitz Chottiner, is expected to present the recommendations to City Manager Robert Herron.
