Cadiz councilman charged with OVI

By NEWS9

HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio —

A Cadiz councilman is facing a drunk-driving charge after officials said he was pulled over for a failure to signal last month.

Officials said Cadiz Councilman Larry Sickle was pulled over by a Harrison County sheriff's deputy on East Market Street in the village for a failure to signal back on Oct. 14.

Authorities said they found that Sickle's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.

He was taken to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, but officials said he was never booked into the jail.

Sickle is represented by counsel and he was arraigned on a charge of OVI, or operating a vehicle impaired.

A pre-trial hearing was set for today, but court officials said the hearing was continued to a later date.

NEWS9 spoke with Harrison County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Washington, who gave this statement about the ongoing case: "Should this result in a conviction, there is no preclusion for him holding public office.”

NEWS9 spoke with Sickle over the phone. He said he has no comment on the matter.
