Car Slips, Pins Woman Against Garage

A St. Clarisville woman is recovering after she was pinned by her own car in her driveway.

The victim was on her way to work when she backed out of her garage and parked the car in the driveway. When she got out to close the garage door, the car rolled toward her, pinning the 44-year-old woman against the building.

Neighbors said they heard the woman screaming around 8 a.m. at the Border Street home and notified police.

"I don't know even if an emergency brake would have helped in that situation because the tires were on the ice and they just slid," said Mellissa Hastings, a witness.

Peela Bray, the victim's sister, said the woman suffered a knee injury.
