Carroll Co. citizens group wants DEP to reject underground mine permit

By NEWS9

CARROLL COUNTY, Ohio —

A Carroll County citizens group is asking the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to reject a 2009 permit application by the Rosebud Mining Company to open an underground mine south of Carrollton.

NEWS9's news partners at the Times Reporter said the Carroll County Concerned Citizens Group wants it rejected because the group believes the application is incomplete and doesn't include critical public safety information on the mine's potential to collapse.

In addition, the citizens group said it is unknown if the mine could affect local drinking water supplies.
