By NEWS9

CARROLL COUNTY, Ohio —

A Carroll County man was killed Wednesday when another driver struck his car head-on Wednesday.

The crash happened at 11:30 a.m. on state Route 43 in Brown Township, south of state Route 183 at milepost 22.

John E. Earley Jr., 26, of Sandy Lane in Malvern, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A toddler in Earley's car was transported to a Canton-area hospital. Troopers said 2-year-old Braden M. Earley, also of Sandy Lane in Malvern, was secured in a child safety seat at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a news release that Earley was not wearing a seat belt in the Pontiac G6 he was driving.

Officials said Thomas D. Wilson, 21, of Ontario Trail in Malvern, was driving north on state Route 43 in a Chevy Cheyenne pickup when he went left of center and struck Earley's car head-on.

Wilson was injured and was transported to a Canton-area hospital.

Troopers said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
