WHEELING, W.Va. —

Renovations continue at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Wheeling.

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston said all the pews were refurbished and the floor below them was sanded down and restained.

The pews are original from the Cathedral's opening back in the 1920s.

Besides the pews, a new marble altar and lectern were installed. Both pieces were made and delivered from Italy.
Some of the tile below the altar was replaced with marble tile.

Some minor work is being conducted this week, including fixing a leak in a portion of the roof and painting.

Bishop Michael Bransfield will rededicate the Cathedral in a mass on Oct. 13.
