Catholic Charities of W.Va. to hold 3rd annual Mardi Gras fundraiser

By NEWS9

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. —

Catholic Charities West Virginia is gearing up to host its Mardi Gras celebration to raise funds for the statewide program.

Officials with the agency said they're close to reaching their fundraising goals.

This years' event will raise funds for the agency's child care amenities like its resource center, food program, homemaker program and refugee management programs.

Patti Phillips of Catholic Charities West Virginia said the child care aspects all help individuals or families reach self-sustainability and keep families living in their homes.

Now in its third year, the fundraiser will take place at Oglebay Park's Pine Room.

Officials said they've reached their goal of $64,000 and hope to get more funds through the generosity of people in the Ohio Valley.
