BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A Cleveland man was arrested at a hotel in St. Clairsville on Tuesday morning on multiple charges after officials confiscated a large amount of drugs and cash.

James Edward Church, 33, was arrested around 7 a.m. by members of the Belmont County Drug Task Force. Officials did not release the name of the hotel.

Investigators said they made the bust after receiving information about activity in one of the hotel rooms. Inside, they found $15,000 in cash, 100 grams of crack cocaine, 27 grams of heroin, dozens of Percocet pills, marijuana, stolen property, a 9-mm firearm and scales used in distributing drugs.

Officials said the arrest is not connected to a drug bust that happened on Sunday morning.

Church faces multiple charges, including possession and trafficking of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon. Officials said he was previously charged with felonious assault with a firearm in Cleveland, but investigators did not want to comment about that case.

He is being held in the Belmont County Jail on $250,000 bond. Stay with NEWS9, WTOV9.com and WTOV9 Mobile for continuing coverage.
