Connected Robberies?

Sunday afternoon two gas stations were robbed in Steubenville. First, the BP on corner of Third and South was robbed at 9:30 in the morning. Next, the Speedway on North Third was robbed at 3:15 that afternoon.

Monday morning at 1:15 the Freedom Way Casino in Weirton was robbed. Detectives in Weirton and Steubenville are working together on this case, as they think the same guy hit up all three places.

Here are the two descriptions detectives gave NEWS9:

The suspect in the Steubenville robberies is a white male, in his 50's, with short grey hair and a grey beard, and was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect in the Weirton robbery is also a white male, around 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, and was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt pulled around his face.

As police examine evidence and compare surveillance video, they're also following another lead. Police say witnesses saw a car leaving the scene of one of the robberies. That car was stolen from St. Clairsville.

The car is a 1992 blue and grey Ford Explorer, with Ohio license plates DPK-1742. The car owner told detectives he called his cell phone, which he left in the car, and spoke to a woman named Crystal who says the phone was sold to her. Steubenville detectives want this woman to call them with any information she has regarding who sold this phone to her.

Police say they have reason to believe the suspect was armed in all three robberies. No one was hurt.
