Connie Culp Appears On 'Anderson'

A local woman who was shot in the face by her husband appeared on an episode of "Anderson" Thursday. The show featured women who had been abused by their husbands.

Connie Culp, joined by her twin sister Bonnie, spoke with Anderson Cooper about several things, including the moment she discovered her husband and his recent release from prison.

"Of course I'm scared. He's got to be angry for being in there that long," said Culp who gained nationwide attention when she became the first American to receive a full face transplant after the shooting left her disfigured in the face.

Thomas Culp was released in September after serving a seven-year sentence. Connie and Thomas are now divorced, but it took about seven years to dissolve the marriage.

Connie Culp said in the interview with Anderson, that aired at 2 p.m. on WTOV9, that her ex-husband called the shooting an accident, but she said she doesn't believe that. However, she said that Thomas was a good husband, despite his temper.

Bonnie said her sister's ex-husband had been abusive for years, but Connie hadn't realized it in the relationship, only realizing recently the years of abuse she had experienced.

During the show, Connie revealed that she was in a new relationship with a man who treats her well.
