Council Approves 'Design-Build' Plan For New Steubenville Annex

Monday Vote Clears Way For 'First Step' For New Building, Councilman Says

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

Steubenville city council took another step Monday night toward replacing the old city annex building at the corner of 3rd Street. and Market Street.

In a 5-2 vote, the council approved hiring the Cattrell Companies, of Toronto for a "design-build" contract for a new building to tie into the newer main city building.

The older annex, which houses the mayor, city manager and other city offices, has bowed exterior walls and some areas are not handicapped-accessible.

There's no estimate on what the new annex would cost, but Councilman David "Pokey" Lalich told NEWS9 the city will have oversight on costs during the design phase, which could take six months.
