Counterfeit bills passed at Jefferson Co. gas station

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

A Jefferson County gas stations alerted police to counterfeit bills early Thursday.

Police said a man walked into the Speedway on Sunset Boulevard around 4 a.m. to get change for some $20 bills.

A gas station employee noticed the three bills were counterfeit.

Police said fake bills pass through the area every few months.
