JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

Charges have been dropped against a Steubenville man accused of punching a man last week after a dispute that police said started over beer.

Jefferson County Court officials said the two felony counts of felonious assault against Brenton Scheetz, 21, were dropped Thursday morning.

However, court officials said they expect the charges to be filed again and looked at by the next grand jury.

Mingo Junction police said Brenton Scheetz punched a man in the face, causing him to hit his head on the concrete. The victim's injuries were serious enough that he had to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital. Police said a female friend was also hit by Scheetz in the face.
