Crash kills 1, OSHP investigating

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio —

A man is dead Sunday after crashing his car in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Willard R. Wigfield III, 50, of Port Washington, Ohio, traveled southbound on Interstate 77 with two passengers. According to the OSHP, Wigfield lost control of his 1991 Chevrolet Blazer and then overturned north of milepost 74 near Stone Creek. The vehicle came to rest on its roof in the median, troopers said.

A medical helicopter flew Willard R. Wigfield Jr., 72, of Port Washington, to Akron Hospital, and an ambulance took Dwayne A. Wigfield, 47, of Port Washington, to Union Hospital, troopers said.

The driver wore a seatbelt, and it's unknown ifalcohol was a factor in the crash, troopers said. It remains under investigation.
