Crews respond to 2 separate fires in Hancock Co.

By Kelly Camarote and  NEWS9

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. —

Crews responded to a fire at a New Manchester home. Then, a short time later, another call came in for another fire just down the road.

In the first fire, the homeowner was transported to a local hospital, then taken to a Pittsburgh hospital. Firefighters said the man was conscious when he was initially transported, and they were not sure what injuries he suffered.

Hours after firefighters arrived at the blaze, smoke still poured form the home. At least four fire departments stayed at the scene while several others nearby stayed on standby.

Crews were grateful for that extra help when another call came in for a separate fire just down the road around 3 p.m.

The second fire caused minor damage at a home on Yale Drive, off Rolling Acres Road. Firefighters said a water heater overheated and started to smoke in the house.
