Crews respond to a Belmont County house fire

BELMONT COUNTY, OH---

The state fire marshal's office is investigating a house fire that started just after 3 p.m.Sunday afternoon in Powhatan Point.

Several fire departments from around the area battled flames at 54701 Lycien Road.

Officials at the scene said no one was home at the time of the fire.

Officials said they believe the fire started in the basement.

Crews were able to knock out the fire within a half hour, but the cause is still unknown.

There is no word yet if the home has been ruled a complete loss.
