CAMBRIDGE, Ohio —

A Dayton man has been charged with robbing a bank in Guernsey County on Thursday afternoon.

David Hirst, 48, was taken into police custody almost immediately after the robbery at the U.S. Bank on Wheeling Avenue in Cambridge.

Hirst allegedly told officers he had an explosive device and the area was evacuated. A bomb squad was able to diffuse the suspected explosive device and its contents are being analyzed by the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office.

He was charged Friday with one count of aggravated robbery with a gun specification.
