Deputies Warn About Shopping Safety For Black Friday

Belmont County Deputies said Black Friday will not only bring thousands of shoppers to local stores, it also has the potential of bringing crime and accidents.

"It's common this time of year, plus with the economic times, people try to get things in ways that aren't necessarily legal," said Sgt. Glenn Moore.

Sgt. Moore said there's things shoppers need to watch out for when bouncing from store to store.

"People need to pay attention to their children, to their items and they have to be courteous of other shoppers," said Moore.

He said if you plan to put purchases in your car and continue to shop, put them in the trunk, out of the public view and keep your doors locked.

Lastly, he said traffic is going to be very heavy and accidents can happen very easily so he says drivers must pay attention.

Deputies will be out around the Ohio Valley Mall making sure everyone stays safe.
