Deputy struck by car as copper theft suspects flee scene

CARROLL COUNTY, Ohio —



One man was arrested and officials are searching for two other suspects after a copper theft that left a deputy injured.

The incident happened in Carroll County overnight.

Rick Willis, of Salineville, was arrested by deputies on theft charges.

Sheriff Dale Williams said Willis and two other people ransacked the Washington Township Garage and the General Electric Substation, stealing chainsaws, fuel and copper.

A deputy was struck by the getaway car and is recovering from injuries, Williams said.
