QUAKER CITY, Ohio

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 just east of Quaker City were closed to traffic the majority of the evening after a troopers say a truck hauling horses and a semi-truck collided.

The crash happened around 6 p.m., near mile marker 194. Troopers said the truck hauling a horse trailer was heading westbound and hydroplaned. It crossed the grass median and down into the eastbound lanes, smashing into a semi-truck.

The driver of the pickup truck had to be flown to a Columbus hospital. Troopers said her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Another woman, and two men in the truck were also treated at area hospitals for minor injuries.

The three horses in the trailer only suffered minor scrapes and were transferred to another trailer and carted away.

Troopers said they were coming from a horse race when the crash happened.

The driver of the semi-truck did not speak English, so there was a translator on scene to assist.

He did not suffer any injuries.

Troopers said the driver of the pickup truck will be cited for failure to control.

NEWS9 spoke with drivers stuck in that traffic, hear from them on NEWS9 tonight.
