STEUBENVILLE, Ohio —

One man is hospitalized after he was seriously injured in a crash early Tuesday in Steubenville.

Officials said the 62-year-old Steubenville man, whose name was not released as of Tuesday afternoon, was in serious condition at Trinity West. He was later transferred to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

The crash happened around 5:40 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard and the 3200 block was closed for some time.

Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said the vehicle lost control and went off the right side of the road. The car continued to travel through several yards before grazing a utility pole. The car then crossed back over Sunset and went off the left side of the road.

The car came to a stop when it hit a porch at 3219 Sunset Blvd., doing some damage to the property.

McCafferty said, “Right now we don’t know what happened. So everything is pending. We couldn’t get a statement from the driver because he was in pretty serious condition.
