Dummy Cop Patrol Traffic

A new member of the Cambridge Police force is causing quite a stir in Guernsey County.

"Murph" is an offical member of the force at the Cambridge Police Department and he's turning a lot of heads on the roads leaving drivers.

Patrolman Roy Angler came up with the idea of using a dummy cop in a police cruiser and it went into affect just last week.

It's a much needed addition to the team to make people slow down.

"We had a few areas in town with a lot of high traffic...made it difficult for officers to get in and enforce if we saw any violations. It's difficult to get into the traffic and purse the violations," said Angler.

Officers say he helps save them time and resources while they're working on cases or patroling areas.

"Murph" is on guard warning speeders to hit the brakes and from time to time officers check on Murph's areas.

The department is rotating murph with live patrolmen so drivers are unaware of when he's on watch.
