Dump Truck Overturns, Prompts Road Repairs

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio —

Road repairs were made in Cross Creek Township after a dump truck overturned, lost its load and shut down a local road for hours.

The driver was coming from Pittsburgh, headed to a Jefferson County disposal site on Cross Creek Road when the truck overturned. The demolition debris spilled out of the truck but the driver wasn’t injured.

He was headed to C & D Disposal Technologies, according to crews on the scene. The road was shut down for several hours as crews worked to remove the debris and traffic was rerouted onto County Road 33.

"He got a little too close to the edge of the road. There is a bit of a drop off in this area and it sucked him over," said Joe Scugoza of C & D Disposal Technologies.

Large trucks were brought in to cart to mess out little by little. Hours later NEWS9 crews headed back to the scene to find road repairs in progress.

Officials at C & D Disposal Technologies decided start road repairs immediately and foot the bill since they use the road often.

A Cross Creek Township trustee was on the scene working with the disposal company during the repairs. The road is back open to traffic.
